Cusco is one of the most beautiful places of the world and the race is going to take place at the Urubamba Valley, known as the Sacred Valley of the Inkas, a place with vegetation and very nice weather.

Racers will tour ruins of Machu Picchu, Ollaytantambo, Pisaq, Saccsayhuaman, Puka Pukara and others.

Another national archaeological park to which different functions had been ascribed. Just as Sacsayhuamán, it is considered a military construction strategically located to protect the city from possible invasions of forest, religious and agricultural ethnos. It is also said that it was constructed to set up roads towards the Antisuyo.

Machu Picchu
At 2,400 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l), in the province of Urubamba, department of Cusco, MACHU PICCHU surprises us because of the way its stone constructions are spread over a narrow and uneven mountain top, bordering a sheer 400 meter cliff side of the Urubamba River canyon.

MACHU PICCHU is a citadel shrouded in mystery, and to this day archaeologists have not uncovered the history and purpose of this city of stone. The site has an area of about one square kilometer, and stands in a region that the Incas considered to be magical, due to the meeting of the Andes mountains with the mighty Amazon river.
Just like all the cities in Cusco, Pisac is an important archaeological center that encompasses the mystical Incan constructions, in contrast to the natural richness of the Urubamba Valley.

Pisac does not escape from the famous Incan legends. The city presents a statue that has a very particular legend.

At 3,360 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.), the mythical capital of the Inca Empire, preserves its stone walls and battlements with pride, evoking the greatness of the "Children of the Sun". It's a city packed full of historical monuments and relics, of myths and legends, which seem to come to life every time you walk through its century old streets.

Sacsayhuaman (3,600 a.s.l.)
Sacsayhuamán is one of the most amazing Incan constructions for tourists. Its Quechua name means "satisfied falcon", it was the falcon that guarded the capital of the empire, since it was possible to overlook Cusco from the hill in where it was erected. If, as it is known, Cusco was designed with the shape of a lying puma, Sacsayhuamán would be its head, and the Coricancha would correspond to the feline's genitalia.

Or baths of the Inka,. it was one of the favorite resting-places of the Incas, used as a resting watering place and, at the same time, it was one of the pillars of the defense system of the Valley of Cusco.

This is Cusco's temple to Pacha mama. Like the one at Machu Picchu it is largely carved into the naturally-occurring rock. These sites are limestone outcrops on which intricate mythical representations had been carved. It is believed that it was destined to the worship of the land.

Puka Pukara
It would deal about a military building made up by overlapping terraces, interior squares, aqueducts, watchtowers, high walls and staircases. However, Its presence along the road may also indicate that it was a wayside inn, though its structure does not belong to the standard outlining that characterizes those buildings along the Inca trails.
